As he leaned toward her, she couldn't help noticing that he smelled delicious, like some spicy man soap that made her want to sneak into his bathroom and inhale the bar.
Cade gave his dad a look. The water under their combined bridges could drown someone.
My Review:
I am grooving on this Angel Falls series, The Way You Love Me was another delightfully satisfying and disarming read that would be easy to follow regardless of whether the first book was read or not, although I can highly recommend and enjoyed reading Then There Was You as well. I am always struck by the agile and insightful quality of Ms. Liasson's writing. Her storytelling is so smooth, lushly described, and easy to follow that it rolls seamlessly with keen visuals through my gray matter. She deftly tucks in clever levity, thoughtful details, and other extra special touches that elevate the caliber from good to exceptional while providing additional texture and vibrancy to her characters as well as a highly pleasurable reading experience. And I adored these enticing characters as much as I did their engaging storylines. I particularly enjoyed the creativity of the full grovel experience and the amusing unpredictability of the elderly Nonna.

Sweet and lovely, a small town romance from one of my favorite writers.

First chapter of her next upcoming release "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was included at the end.
This is Rafe and Kaitlyn's story and it looks really promising. Can't wait to read the full story.

A single father hero, Cade, resettling into his hometown and a new job, finds himself unwilling attracted to one of his creative writing students. Gabby just hit thirty and made partner at her law firm but discovering a box of writings from a mother she lost at a young age, has her searching for ways to connect not only to her mother but herself.
Who was this man, who seemed kind of uptight and strict in the classroom but seemed so wonderfully vulnerable and human— not to mention sexy—after hours?
In a style, tone, and pace that felt like women's fiction, this also provided a good focus on the relationship trying to develop between Cade and Gabby. Cade's background of having a smaller family with dead beat father and absent ex-wife leaving him to care for his young daughter, provided great foundation for his not wanting to ask for help and self-contained personality. Gabby also was a flushed out character with a larger, strong, and self-sufficient family that left her feeling even more insecure about her desires to bounce from careers and hobbies, explaining her personality traits of not feeling good enough. The main characters were clearly well thought out and were the stronger for it.
This is second in a series and I'm wondering if characters from a connecting series make appearances as there were couples and plenty of friends that could be waiting in the wings for their own stories; I felt lost a few times with all the names. There is also a slight secondary romance brewing with Gabby's brother Rafe and her friend Katilyn that will capture you attention (it looks like their book is next in the series). The geographical setting of Angel Falls isn't really gotten into but the author has you feel the small town through the characters' relationships, which she did a good job of. The overall network of characters and how they feel about each other, emotions and connections, is a highlight and what I think people come for when they select small town romances, you'll get that here.
While friends and family connections were felt, I didn't fully grasp Gabby and Cade's connection. The author handled Cade being Gabby's teacher in a wonderfully mature way and while I think their beginning dance of touch and go took me in, the middle or meaty part of their relationship was missing for me. They kind of hop to instant attraction, sexual tension, then strong enough feelings to be together forever, a very rushed emotional aspect ending. I felt I didn't get to experience them interacting or bonding enough to believe in or enjoy them as a couple.
I'm not a huge fan of children in novels but Cade's daughter made enough appearances to bring the feels (Cade watching Youtube videos to figure out how to French braid her hair) but was absent enough to not interfere with the romance aspects. Cade's ex-wife, father, to some extent, and a few other secondary characters made quick little for drama's sake splashes but didn't quite have the time or depth for heavy emotional hits. I also thought Gabby's job seemed conspicuously absent, as she just made partner. However, if you read the first in the series or recognized characters from other books by the author, you'd probably enjoy the glimpses and human connections placed here instead of Gabby dealing with her job.
As I mentioned, this had plenty of charm, if not a lot of spark. The almost women's fiction feel, but with stronger focus on Gabby and Cade's romance relationship building, will provide a great slow down and lose yourself into a fictional small town world for a while. There were plenty of secondary characters to hope for future books and I myself need to find out what happens between Gabby's brother Rafe and her friend Kaitlyn in the next installment.

"I'd eat chicken nuggets with that guy anytime…"
Single Daddy, best-selling author, and divorcee, Cade Marshall is back in town, to try and give a settled home life for his young daughter Ava, move on from the scandal his ex-wife created, and start a new job as a Professor at the local college. His first meeting with his student Gabby doesn't go too well, but it's not long that their attraction is stronger than their initial dislike of each other.
This was the first time since his divorce he'd felt such a powerful attraction-and wanted to act on it…
Slow burn romance for sure, and this is a couple who take a while to work out how a relationship will work between them, Cade also has his own baggage to process and move on from, but once again I find myself immersed in the story playing out between them as well as the rest of the Langdon family in general. Firefighter Rafe Langdon and his bestie Kaitlyn in particular.
"I want you… it's all I can think of."
And thankfully their story is due next, later on this year in - All I Want For Christmas is You. I am absolutely loving this series, so am looking forward to reading more from it, especially if it's a story set around Christmas!

Cade's daughter was the easily brightest spot in the story.
Plot wise, it was just meh. There wasn't any real show of time movement, so it seemed like they had been hanging out for a very short while before the ending and proposal. Too many threads of plot made for something more convoluted than it needed to be and in that, nothing felt fleshed out.
Overall, I liked the small town setting and the idea of the angel fountain, but sadly, I was mostly disappointed. I doubt I'll be reading any others in this series.

This is such a wonderful feel good story about family, friends and the pursuit of happiness. The Way You Love Me is the first book by Miranda Liasson that I've read and I'm already clamoring for the next book in this series and planning on reading book 1 ASAP. I fell in love with this little community and the entire Langdon family. Liasson's writing left me feeling all the warm fuzzies.Focused on the youngest daughter Gabby, this is as much about finding oneself as finding love. Early on I had a connection moment with Gabby Langdon where I thought maybe Ms Liasson knew me and thought she sneak in an observation about me. I TOO LOVE to take classes, to learn about things, doing things, even if I don't perfect the activity. Unlike Gabby, who seems to master mostly everything. Anyway, when Lawyer Gabby enrolls for a creative writing class and meets the handsome writer/professor Cade Marshall I was elated. I particularly love this description of their interaction and what it prophesies:
"Cade watched her go. The old metal clock on the wall gave a loud click as the metal hand jolted forward, as if marking the moment that something in his life had just shifted"
Cade and Gabby find their lives intertwining and although the whole teacher/student dynamic is a no-no, after all you can't help who you fall for. Gabby quickly learns it's a two-fer where Cade is concerned as his adorable daughter Ava is big part of the package.
This was such a sweet and fun read. I loved everything about it, the plot line light on angst but just enough to remind the reader that life is complicated and falling in love is hard, but also glorious. The myriad cast of characters, her Nonna, her friend Kaitlin and sister Sara, and brother Rafe push the plot along. And I thoroughly enjoyed Cade's character and the complexities of his family. I highly recommend this to one an all lovers of contemporary romance and look forward to visit Angela Falls more!

This author has taken this teaching gig to stabilize his life. He is newly divorced and is still experiencing PTSD from is raging ex. He has his kid with him and wants to make sure everything settles and becomes normal.
These two cross paths first in the parking lot at the college and then in the class, our guy is teaching. Over the course of time, she shows talent, he shows interest and they must figure out where to go from there.

But things doesn't begin on a good start when she meet the teacher.
After writing a book who became a best seller, after a divorce and being sued by his wife who accused him of stealing her ideas (a cause dismissed by the judge) and now that he's a single dad for his three-years-old daughter Ava, Caden Marshall is back in Angel Falls to get his life back on track. Not being able to produce a second book and wanting a steady income to make a good life for his daughter, he accept a teaching job for a writing class.
Distracted and a little broody, but also honest about what he expect from his students, Caden might not have made a good first impression, but it doesn't stop attraction from interfering between him and Gabby.
It's funny how often I unintentionally pick a book with the same trope or similar details to the previous book I read. For example, a few days ago, I read one with a student-teacher trope and here's an other one. I said I'm not a fan of this trope, but with this book, I realized that when it involve two mature adults and it's not school-related, it can works for me. What charmed me in this story, besides the romance and the characters, was all the love (whether it's reading or writing) of books background. As a book lover, I felt like me and the heroine were kindred spirit. The secondary characters brought something to the table, especially Gaby's family and little Ava too, even if she was cute as a button one minute and the next, she's the Antichrist ;p
It was my first time reading this author and I plan to read the previous book in the series and the next ones. I would recommend this book to you if you're a fan of Kristan Higgins, Jill Shalvis and Susan Mallery.

She jumps for the this to that. You wonder if she'll be able to ever get her act together and what's driving her.
As the book goes on you start to figure out why she's the way she is and that flighty is the last word you should use, or I guess that was me, not you who used flighty. Ha!
Caden is another fish. He's a father of a little girl and for those that follow me they know that's a trigger for me. Love me a single father.
He comes off as a asshole in the beginning but just like Gabby you find there is more to him that meets the eye.
I really enjoyed how these two figured out they are in love. It's not a straight shoot but when it does happen it's well worth it. I liked how at times you didn't know if who you thought of them was right or if they really were the was they came off. Love when characters have depth.
Layers are what make a romance.
The Caden's daughter adds even more to the story and you also visit with some of the characters you enjoyed from the first book in the series.

A career lawyer in a small town wants a creative outlet, so she take classes in creative writing. I did think the option of independent publishing should have been mentioned, but it was not, because of course this book was published the dinosaur way.
No great surprises when the lady starts to fall for the lecturer, a damp squib novelist whose one successful book was clouded over by his ex-wife accusing him of plagiarising her ideas. In other words a little like Educating Rita. The major difference is that this is an adult romance, and we get to see a lot of the town.

I enjoyed Gabby and Cade's push/pull relationship. They both had some growing to do independently before moving forward with one another and I liked how it was reflected when eye opening moments clicked the light bulb on upstairs and awareness settled in. I also liked how Liasson included family dynamics into the mix, showing how the tendrils of one relationship could spill over and effect others in many different ways.
Book two in the Angel Falls series was a delightful read! Small town charm and a cute romance made time fly by! There's a variety of characters to track, but not so many you'd get lost. Gabby's vivacious Nonna was my personal favorite because she was a real firecracker of fun and her having no filter?! Imagine, embarrassing moments, thoughtful advice, and loving support. However, the main focus of the story was always about Gabby and Cade. The struggles to move forward, discover themselves, and learning to overcome perceived personal failures gave their romance a mature edge I enjoyed.

I liked Brett. He was honorable, diligent, and knew he had to straighten himself out when Sidney left him. Sidney was a bit aloof and harder to like. I understood her struggles with body issues, but her mixed signals to Brett were frustrating. Brett and Sidney both hedged on seriously communicating their worries to the Nth degree when they could have been busy making up! Although the make up session did get hot and heavy for a brief moment ;)
Sidney and Brett's story was a decently cute second chance romance. I felt Brett was pretty dimensional, but Sidney needed just a wee bit more tweaking to put them on a level laying field.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Him watching YouTube videos to learn how to braid her hair was one of my favorite things. I don't always love children in books because they tend to either overshadow the rest of the story or fade off into the background but the author did an excellent job of including Ava just the right amount.
The story moved slowly at first and then picked up and I couldn't put it down. I really like that there wasn't a lot of drama or back and forth between Cade and Gabby. They handled their baggage and fears in a mature and realistic manner. I do wish that the relationship between Cade and Gabby once they had officially gotten together was explored a little more but since there was so much time spent on the build-up to their relationship I don't feel like it took anything away from the story. Overall this was a sweet, heart-warming story that I would definitely read again.
I do have to admit that, while I loved Gabby and Cade, I found myself quite distracted by the foreshadowing of Rafe and Katilyn's romance. With the addition of the first chapter in their upcoming book at the end of this one, I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am for All I Want for Christmas in September!

The Way You Love Me is Miranda Liasson's second book in the small town romance series, Angel Falls. Gabby is a people pleaser and it's been awhile since she did something just for herself. Cade is a brooding single father with a chip on his shoulder. Writing brings them together and introduces them to a possibility of following their hearts. A great small town love story that will have readers clamoring for more. What I liked:
You know that situation that happens when you meet somebody that you have potential with... the one where you start out on the wrong foot? Maybe you can't stand each other, or you end up embarrassing yourself in a big way. That's exactly what happens with Gabby and Cade. It's not love at first sight and I liked that. It's a lot more down to earth and a lot more believable than some books in the romance genre. Liasson always brings the small town charm but this one has something more... it's relatable.
I think authors who write in the contemporary romance genre always run the risk of adding too much pop culture or not enough. You don't want to date the book per se but you want the audience to feel like these characters are living a life they could live or that they are experiencing the same things they could experience. I think Liasson did a great job with that balance. From Gabby's choice of taking a community ed class in creative writing to Cade's YouTube research on hair braiding lol... That was a great touch.
You can't talk about what you like about this book without mentioning, Nonna and the other secondary characters like Gabby's brother, Rafe, who happens to get his story in the next book in the series. Liasson has a wonderful way of getting her characters to interact with the community at large. Angel Falls is a great little town with lots of interesting people. Makes a reader want to move in and get to know people.
I enjoyed the main couple, Gabby and Cade very much. They had something in common. The desire to write. I'm a sucker for books about books or writing. Maybe they feature a writer or a librarian or something of that sort. Liasson hit all the write buttons for me on this front. The creativity that brought these two together was interesting. I could feel Cade's frustration at his writers block and I could feel Gabby's excitement at finding a connection to her mother and in following her passion.
You get more than just a little teaser at the end of this one with a preview of the next book. You also get a very good novella from Alison Bliss... soooo good you gotta read it!
What I didn't Like:
Sometimes there just isn't anything I don't like lol... It happens. This one was sweet and easy to read. It was one of those books that the characters just get under your skin. The families and the people around them are just as fleshed out as the main couple and you find yourself just wanting to read more. That's what makes this one a five apple read...
Bottom Line:
Small town romances are a favorite of mine. Maybe they don't have all the glits and glam of thriller but they just make you feel good. This is one of those stories that doesn't have police chases or huge dramatic struggles. But it doesn't need it. It's well written. It's easy to relate to and the characters are people you'd want to meet in the coffee shop or the supermarket. Loved it!

My rating 4.5 StarsGabby Langdon just made partner at her law firm and she should be deliriously happy. She does enjoy her job, but she has a bigger dream. Gabby wants to be a writer. Over the years, she has taken a lot of auxiliary classes trying to find her niche, and she knows without a doubt that it is writing. So, she takes a creative writing class.
Caden Marshall is a best-selling author who has taken a job as a professor. One of his students causes an immediate distraction. However, Cade has a lot of baggage. He was humiliated in the publishing world, he is divorced, and he is raising his four-year-old daughter on his own. Cade hopes being back in Angel Falls will put everything to rights, even if he never writes another book.
What are Cade and Gabby going to do now that it is clear that they are very attracted to one another. With regard to Cade, he really cannot date a student. it is unethical. As far as Gabby is concerned, she previously ended a serious relationship and doesn't want a fling or anything remotely like that. She is nearing thirty-one and is looking for a future. As drawn as she is to Cade, how can he be the man for her?
Just before I read this book, I read the first book in the series. I was quite drawn into the family with that book and this followed along just perfectly. Readers got to see who Gabby had dated previously and that gave a terrific basis for this story. However, the books do well as standalones.
We meet the adorable Nonna again, an Alzheimer sufferer, and I think she, as well as the rest of the family, fit quite well in this story. Despite Nonna's losses, she still has some great expressions to share. Also, there is a bit of a legend, touched on ever so slightly in these books, so there is no doubt at all that there will be a happy ending. Both Gabby and Cade are strong, enjoyable characters. I especially loved Cade and his relationship with his daughter Ava. For example, he Googles hairstyles for Ava.
For an enjoyable read, one that will leave you feeling refreshed - if not a bit attached to this lovely family - then I encourage you to grab this and the first book. This is the second book in the Angel Falls series and was preceded by Then There Was You, and then readers have All I Want for Christmas in September to look forward to. Rafe and Kaitlyn finally get there story. I definitely have been rooting for them.

She is someone who is searching for her "passion" but in the meantime doing what is expected of her. I admire all the classes she has taken to try and find that one thing that makes her tick. I'm glad she finally did and she isn't letting any negative comments stop her from trying to succeed.
My heart broke for Cade

My heart broke for Caden. He has been put through the ringer and because of this it has made him start to doubt himself and his abilities. Because of this, he has decided that instead of following his passion, he will do the more sensible and stable option. He has his daughter to think about and while I think this is an admirable trait, writers need their outlet and to stop I believe it hurts their soul.
I loved reading about theses two both trying to do the right thing with outside influences trying to sway their decision.
Meant to be by Alison Bliss
I have been a fan of Alison Bliss's for awhile. I have been waiting to get Brett's story.
This book did an amazing job and showcasing just how far Brett has come from a previous book. He had some serious anger issues that he needed to take care of. It almost resulted in his sister disowning him but it did make him lose the love of his life.
This story picks up a year later when the two of them meet again. Sidney expects that Brett will be the same man she left and wants nothing to do with him. Brett desperately wants to show Sidney that he has changed and with therapy he is still working on it.
What I loved most about this story was you could tell the love was still there between these two. It was a true case of the heart wants one thing but the head is telling them another. Reading about them reconnecting and falling back in love was wonderful to read.

Gabby Langdon has just become an attorney, and yet wants more. One of her secret wishes is to become a writer just like her late mother. To make that wish a reality, Gabby enrolls in a writing course at night.
Caden Marshall is a writer, but has a serious writer's block. He also has to provide for his young daughter Ava. Caden takes a position to teach writing. On the first night of the class, Caden hurries and takes a parking spot that Gabby was about to take. Literally, that is how the two of these characters meet. There are definitely sparks at this moment.
Gabby is a strong -willed and determined young woman. Caden is a stubborn, and responsible man. Is there a chance there can be something more? You will have to read the book to find out.
I appreciate that the author discusses the importance of family, friends, communication, honesty, forgiveness, second chances, love and hope. I would recommend this enjoyable book to readers who enjoy romantic stories. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

He's back in his hometown with his 3 year old daughter for a new start and hoping for inspiration.
These two meet by chance and from the first moment , the attraction is there. But obstacles are also in their lives.
The plot is engaging and the imperfect characters, complex and endearing. The book is at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming. A reminder that family, with all it's imperfections, is important to have in our lives.
Hope, new beginnings and love can be within reach if we give them a chance.
Can't wait to see what else Ms. Liasson has in store for us.

I loved Gabby and how she looks out for family and how she took right to Cade's daughter. Cade is a great guy and needs to trust again after what his ex has done and his relationship with his dad is pretty much non existent. I can't wait for the next book.

I loved this story so going back to read Book 1 of this series for a taste of how it all began in Angel Falls while I wait for the third installment about Kaitlyn and Rafe!

Her heartwarming and humorous romances have won numerous accolades and have been praised by Entertainment Weekly for the way she "deals with so much of what makes life hard . . . without ever losing the warmth and heart that characterize her writing." She believes that we can handle whatever life throws at us just a little bit better with a laugh.
A proud native of Northeast Ohio, she and her husband live in a neighborhood of old homes that serve as inspiration for her books. She is very proud of her three young adult children. And though every day she thinks about getting a dog, she fears a writer's life may bore the poor animal to tears. When she's not writing or enjoying books herself, she can be found biking along the old Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath trails in the beautiful Ohio MetroParks.
